Blended Course Development

Blended Learning (also known as hybrid or flipped) are courses where a portion of the traditional face-to-face instruction is replaced by web-based online learning. The addition of technology to any academic program must be accompanied by fundamental process re-design. These Moodle courses have been designed to provide a process for participating teachers can work collaborative to include innovative technology, curricular reinvention, participant training, and ongoing assessment support, all of which are necessary for meaningful, sustainable, disruptive transformation.

Introduction

The course was modified from the Moodle Feature Demo course and content in the book module is from Jason Cole & Helen Fosters book "Using Moodle: teaching with the popular open source course management system".

Each activity or resource begins with the book module explaining the setup and use of various activities and resources. Following the book will be activities or resources demonstrating the use of that specific activity.

Format

The Moodle Socialwall will transform your Moodle course into a social learning platform. This includes a familiar post interface, timeline of posts, filtering of the timeline, and integration with Moodle's activities and resources. A social learning format allows teachers to pick up the tool and begin using it right away.

  • Look for examples of Moodle course and modules that you can use in your Moodle site.
  • Share the courses you have made with Moodle.
  • Share glossaries, databases, Scorm packages, quizzes and other things that you have developed to help with your Moodle implementation.

Session Description

Experience various methods of assessing students to gather information for instructional purposes. This will be done by showcasing various question and assessment types to allow participants to experience different modes of assessment and feedback. Also come to participate in the Bismarck Schools implementation for fulfilling the ND Civics Exam legislative mandate.
